Deuces Wild video poker at Fair Go
In Deuces Wild every 2 is wild, which turns ordinary poker upside down: three of a kind is the smallest paying hand and five of a kind is real. Fair Go lists Deuces Wild among its video poker games. Here's how the pay table works, what the full-pay version returns, and how to play each number of deuces.

How the wild deuces change the game
A deuce can stand in for any card, so hands that are rare in Jacks or Better become everyday events. Four of a kind turns up roughly once every 16 hands with good play, and you'll see plenty of straights and flushes. To balance that, the pay table starts at three of a kind. A pair, even a pair of aces, pays nothing, and so does two pair.
New hands appear at the top. Five of a kind needs at least one deuce. A wild royal flush uses deuces to complete a royal and pays 25 per coin. A natural royal, with no deuces, is the jackpot at 4,000 coins for five coins, and four deuces pay 200 per coin on their own.
Full pay and the Deuces Wild tables you'll actually see
Full-pay Deuces Wild returns 100.76% with perfect strategy, one of the few casino games that pays back more than it takes over the long run. That's why it's rarely offered. Casinos usually trim the middle of the table, and the four of a kind and full house lines tell you which version you're on:
- Full pay: 4K pays 5, full house 3, flush 2100.76%
- Five of a kind 16, straight flush 10, 4K 4, full house 4, flush 399.73%
- Five of a kind 15, straight flush 9, 4K 4, full house 4, flush 398.91%
Fair Go doesn't publish its Deuces Wild pay table, so open it in the game and compare. All three figures assume perfect strategy for that exact table. Real players fall a little short, and the strategy differs slightly between tables.
Deuces Wild strategy by number of deuces
The first thing to do on every deal is count your deuces. Then:
- Four deuces: hold them. You're guaranteed the 200-per-coin payout.
- Three deuces: hold just the three deuces, unless you already have a wild royal or five of a kind.
- Two deuces: keep any made four of a kind or better, and four to a wild royal. Otherwise, holding just the two deuces is usually right.
- One deuce: keep any made hand of three of a kind or better (a deuce with a pair is already three of a kind), and four to a royal or a straight flush. Without those, keep the deuce with two suited royal cards, or just the deuce.
- No deuces: hold a made straight or better, four to a royal, three of a kind or four to a straight flush. With two pair, keep one pair and throw the other away. A single pair is still worth holding. With nothing, draw five.
Two rules never change: never discard a deuce, and don't hold a kicker beside your deuces. The full strategy has more lines, but these cover most hands and keep you close to the game's best return.
Why Deuces Wild feels streaky
Much of Deuces Wild's return sits in a few big hands. Four deuces come along roughly once in 5,000 hands, and a natural royal around once in 45,000. Between them, the most common win is three of a kind, which only returns your stake. So it's normal to see your balance drift down for a while and then jump when four deuces land.
Fair Go says its video poker can deal 1 to 100 hands at once, and multi-hand play magnifies that pattern: hold three deuces across ten hands and you have ten shots at the big one, but ten times the stake on the line. With a bonus active, keep the total per deal within Fair Go's $10 cap and check how video poker counts towards its 30x wagering.
If you're new to video poker, Jacks or Better is the simplest place to learn hand values before you add wild cards. For the bigger picture on how return and volatility interact, see our RTP and volatility guide.
