Fair Go Casino table games by house edge
The house edge is the share of each bet the game keeps over the long run. The figures below are standard casino maths for the usual rules, not Fair Go's published numbers. Fair Go's exact rules can differ, so check the help screen at each table.
| Game and bet | Standard house edge |
|---|---|
| Blackjack, basic strategy, typical rules | About 0.5% |
| Baccarat, Banker (5% commission) | 1.06% |
| Baccarat, Player | 1.24% |
| Craps, Pass Line | 1.41% |
| European roulette (single zero) | 2.70% |
| American roulette (double zero) | 5.26% |
| Baccarat, Tie paying 8 to 1 | 14.36% |
Our guides to baccarat and craps go through every bet on those tables. The pattern is worth remembering. The simplest even-money bets at each game tend to be the cheapest, and the flashy long-odds bets cost the most. On a $10 bet, a 1.06% edge costs about 11 cents on average, and a 14.36% edge costs about $1.44.
Skill or pure chance?
Blackjack and Pontoon reward good decisions. Basic strategy, a chart of when to hit, stand, double or split, cuts the edge to its lowest. Table poker games such as Caribbean Stud and Tri Card Poker have one key decision per hand: fold or raise. Roulette, baccarat and craps are pure chance once your bet is down. No system changes the edge on those, however a betting pattern looks on paper. If you like making decisions with a pay table in front of you, Fair Go's video poker rewards good play too.
Five rules to check before you sit down
- Blackjack payout. 3 to 2 on a natural is standard. A 6 to 5 payout adds roughly 1.4 percentage points to the edge.
- Dealer on soft 17. Standing is slightly better for you than hitting.
- Number of decks. Fewer decks usually help the player a little.
- The roulette wheel. Pick European (one zero) over American (two zeros) whenever both are on offer.
- Side-bet pay tables. Perfect Pairs and Suit 'Em Up pay big for rare hands, and usually carry a much higher edge than the main bet.
Does Fair Go have a live casino?
No. Fair Go has no live casino and no live dealers: its casino games page has no live dealer category Verified. Every table here is a digital table, with cards dealt and wheels spun by a random number generator rather than a dealer on a video stream. That suits short sessions and small stakes, and you play at your own pace.
If you came looking for live blackjack, live roulette or live baccarat, these are the digital versions Fair Go lists instead:
- Blackjack: Classic Blackjack, European Blackjack, Face Up 21 and Pontoon. Start with our blackjack rules guide.
- Roulette: American Roulette and European Roulette. Our roulette guide compares the two wheels.
- Baccarat: the classic Player, Banker and Tie game, covered in our baccarat guide.
If you plan to use a bonus at the tables, check how table games count toward wagering in Fair Go's terms before you deposit. The figures we track don't include contribution rates, and it's common for casinos to count table bets at a lower rate than pokie spins. Bets are capped at $10 while a bonus is active.
